We love because God first loved us. We give because he first gave to us. Consequently, giving to the mission of the church is first and foremost an act of worship. In giving, we’re expressing our gratitude to God, not only for his material gifts, but primarily for the gift of making us part of his family through Christ. In other words, giving through tithes and offerings is a way of living into the truth that our money doesn’t own us or our destiny, and that our true safety, our deepest identity, and our well-being are found in Christ and his kingdom alone.
